Tonbridge School offers a beautiful venue for weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers and other special celebrations. With versatile spaces for both intimate gatherings and grand occasions, our team ensures your event flows seamlessly from start to finish. Explore our event options and let us help bring your vision to life with a perfect setting for any celebration.

Venues to say ‘I do’

Tonbridge School has five venues licensed for civil ceremonies as well as stunning grounds and gardens for outdoor ceremonies. For Old Tonbridgians, the Chapel of St Augustine is also an option, subject to special licence from the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Lowry Dining Room

  • Capacity: 120 guests
  • Venue features: A vaulted ceiling adorned with ornate chandeliers and a minstrel’s gallery

Ogilvie

  • Capacity: 30 guests
  • Venue features: An intimate ceremony venue or room for bridal preparations with a full length mirror

OBS Gallery

  • Capacity: 120 guests
  • Venue features: Large stone windows to bathe the room in natural light, and an in-built sound system

Big School

  • Capacity: 300 guests
  • Venue features: A grand piano sits central stage, stained glass windows and a parquet wooden floor

Skinners’ Library

  • Capacity: 100
  • Venue features: An open fire place, large bay window and stunning chandelier suspended below an intricate ceiling rose

Chapel of St Augustine

  • Capacity: 700
  • Venue features: Beautiful stained glass windows, candle chandeliers and an impressive Marcussen organ

We cannot thank you enough for our wonderful day. When we told our friends that we were getting married at a school, a few were a little confused! Orchard Centre

  • Drinks reception capacity: 180 guests

Thank you so much for hosting us this evening for our governor event. It all went extremely smoothly, from the AV system to the drinks and canapes afterwards, which were delicious.

Frequently asked questions

Can we bring our own caterer?

If you have a particular caterer or cuisine in mind, the use of a third party caterer may be possible. Please note, external caterers are not allowed access to the school’s kitchens and must supply their own equipment and take any rubbish offsite with them.

Can we have a marquee?

Yes, a marquee can be arranged with prior agreement. Music restrictions may be imposed if a marquee is your chosen venue for the entirety of your day.

Can we bring our own photographer, florist, entertainment etc?

Yes, you are welcome to appoint your own suppliers provided they hold the relevant insurances and PAT tested equipment. If needed, we are also able to provide a list of recommended suppliers.

Can we reserve a date without payment?

We are happy to hold a date provisionally for up to two weeks without payment. After this time, a deposit is required to secure the date.

What is the latest finish time?

The bar closes at 11.30pm and music must finish by midnight. Extended licences may be applied for at an additional fee.

How to find us

Tonbridge School is situated in the heart of Tonbridge, Kent, and is easily accessible by road, rail and air.

The school is a short walk from Tonbridge train station which offers direct trains to London in under 40 minutes. For guests travelling by car,  Tonbridge is well connected via the A21, with direct links to the M25 and M20. There is ample parking on-site, as well as electric car charging points. International guests can also reach us easily from London Gatwick Airport (35 minutes by car) or Heathrow Airport (just over an hour).
